Energy Research
Professor Pecoraro’s research interests range from de Novo design of small metalloproteins to preparing synthetic models of metalloenzyme active sites. He is a leading expert on the process of photosynthetic water oxidation chemistry and developing catalysts for hydrogen peroxide and superoxide decomposition, and has ongoing studies to understand the mechanisms of toxicity of heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium and arsenic.
