Please join the LSA Student Government as they host a Pipeline Town Hall next Monday, March 13th from 7 to 8:30 PM at the Michigan League Hussey Room.

The pipeline faculty panel includes Dr. Simon, Dr. Barteau, Dr. Deloria and Dr. Towleh.  They will address:

  • Environmental implications.  What could be a good alternative to pipelines?
  • Economic impacts of the pipeline vs. not having the pipeline?    What about alternative energies?
  • What are the implications for different groups?  Explore the effects of the administration on the issues, and the effects of police intervention on protesters/native communities.
  • What have students done in the past on this issue?  What should students know about this issue?  What are the rights of protestors?  As student environmental activists, what can we do and how should we protect ourselves?
  • What will the pipeline cost?  What are ways that it can continue to be fought?
  • What are the long term economic implications?  We have so many pipelines, why do we need more?  In what ways will the pipeline benefit American industry?
