Assistant Director of Operations, University of Michigan Energy Institute
Bruno Vanzieleghem is the Assistant Director of Operations for the Energy Institute. Bruno currently leads the business operations of the Battery Lab— a unique battery fabrication and characterization facility representing a nearly $10M investment— and led its development. The Battery Lab bridges research and commercialization activities for outside customers and university researchers. In the past, Bruno was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the U.S.-China Clean Energy Research Center –Clean Vehicle Consortium, a $5M/year Department of Energy consortium of academic, industry, and national lab partners. Before joining the Energy Institute, he was the Technical Program Manager for the Automotive Research Center at the University of Michigan, a research center focused on modeling and simulation of ground vehicles. Bruno has a Doctorate in Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, and a bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ghent in Belgium.
