Logistics

The TE3 conference will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019, at the University of Michigan Rackham Graduate School, 4th Floor Amphitheater, located at 915 East Washington Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48109. This one-day event begins at 8:00 am with registration and a breakfast buffet. The program will end at 5:00 pm, followed immediately by a reception with light refreshments. Attire is business casual.

Transportation

The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, is located approximately 25 miles west of Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW), about a 40 minute drive under normal traffic conditions. For assistance with travel logistics, please contact the Energy Institute Administrative Assistant at (734) 763-7401. If you wish to secure your own transportation, ground transportation between the airport and Ann Arbor is provided by a number of vendors:

 

Parking and Transit

For those driving, the closest university visitor parking is in the Palmer Drive Parking Structure.  Nearby public parking is also available in the Maynard Structure. For further assistance and information, you may contact the Energy Institute’s Administrative Assistant at 734-763-7401.

Meals

A breakfast buffet will be available from 8:00 – 8:45 am during the conference registration check-in period before the program starts and a buffet lunch will be served midday. Also provided will be mid-morning and mid-afternoon coffee breaks as well as a reception with light refreshments at the end of the day.  The meals and beverages will be served in rooms outside of the Rackham Amphitheater auditorium; please note that no food or drinks may be carried into the auditorium itself. No alcohol will be served; any dietary restrictions or allergies should be noted during the registration process.

 

Lodging

For conference attendees who require lodging, a variety of hotels are available in Ann Arbor for guests to choose from. The Graduate, located at 615 E. Huron Street, and the Bell Tower Hotel, located at 300 S. Thayer Street, are both within walking distance to Rackham Graduate School. There are a number of hotels located outside of downtown Ann Arbor that are a short drive to the conference, including: Kensington Court, TownePlace Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, and Holiday Inn Express & Suites.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Driving Directions

From I-94 Expressway (Detroit Metro Airport)

From Detroit and Metro Airport (heading West): As you exit the airport, follow signs to get on to I-94 traveling west towards Ann Arbor. Travel about 21 miles on I-94 and take the State Street Exit 177. Turn right (north). Continue on State Street for approximately 2 miles to the main campus area. Turn right onto E. Washington Street. Rackham Graduate School will be on your left before Fletcher Street.

From Chicago (heading East): Take I-94 to State Street Exit 177. Turn left (north). Continue on State Street approximately 2 miles to the main campus area. Turn right onto E. Washington Street. Rackham Graduate School will be on your left before Fletcher Street.

US-23

Northbound: Take Washtenaw-Ann Arbor Exit 37B and turn right (West) onto Washtenaw Avenue. Where Stadium Blvd and Washtenaw split (approximately 2-3 miles), stay to the right on Washtenaw by following the “Hospital” signs. Turn left at Hill Street (you’ll see “The Rock”). Continue down Hill Street (campus buildings will be on your right). Turn right on State Street then turn right onto E. Washington Street. Rackham Graduate School will be on your left before Fletcher Street.

Southbound: Take US-23 South to M-14 West. Take Exit 3, “Downtown Ann Arbor,” which will become Main Street. Follow Main Street to E. Washington Street. Turn left onto E. Washington Street. Continue down E. Washington Street to State Street. Rackham Graduate School will be on your left before Fletcher Street.

I-696 (also called the W.P. Reuther Freeway)

Westbound: Take I-696 to I-275 South to M-14 West. Follow M-14 West signs closely. Take Exit 3, “Downtown Ann Arbor,” which turns into Main Street. Follow Main Street to E. Washington Street. Turn left onto E. Washington Street. Continue down E. Washington St to State Street. Rackham Graduate School will be on your left before Fletcher Street.

I-96 (also called the Jeffries Freeway):

From Parts of Detroit, Redford, M-14, Plymouth, and Canton: Take I-96 to M-14 West. Follow M-14 West signs closely. Take Exit 3, “Downtown Ann Arbor,” which turns into Main Street. Follow Main Street to E. Washington Street. Turn left onto E. Washington Street. Continue down E. Washington St to State Street. Rackham Graduate School will be on your left before Fletcher Street.

From Lansing: Take I-96 to US-23 South. Drive on US-23 South to M-14 West. Take Exit 3, “Downtown Ann Arbor,” which turns into Main Street. Follow Main Street to E. Washington Street. Turn left onto E. Washington Street. Continue down E. Washington St to State Street. Rackham Graduate School will be on your left before Fletcher Street.
