Tim Johnson was Director – Emerging Regulations and Technologies for Corning Incorporated, but is now recently retired. He is a well-known expert on emerging mobile emissions regulations and technologies, and helps develop strategic positioning for new products. Dr. Johnson is quite active in various advisory and ad-hoc committees with international government agencies, universities, and private organizations, and is a frequent speaker at international technical conferences.
He has been with Corning for 31 years, and 21 years in his position. He is a four-time recipient of the Lloyd L. Withrow Distinguished Speaker Awards from SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers), and in 2008 was named SAE Fellow. He also received California’s 2009 Haagen-Smit Clean Air Technology Award. He was on the editorial board of three leading engine journals, and recently served on the National Research Council review committee on the US Department of Energy 21st Century Truck Partnership program.
He earned his BS and MS Engineering Degrees from the University of Minnesota in 1978 and 1979, and his Doctor of Science from MIT in 1987.
